1971 - Primary teacher’s diploma (senior phase), Teachers’ College, Paarl

 

1972 - Further diploma in art education (drawing, painting, sculpture, design and printing, pottery, jewellery, method and history of art), Cape Town Training College, Mowbray 

 

1989 - BA (Unisa)

 

1990 - International certificate technology education, Peninsula Technikon, Bellville

 

2008 - M Ed (cum laude), Cape Peninsula University of Technology, Wellington campus

 

Due to her many fields of interest, she completed numerous courses and workshops  in ceramics, singing and dancing

Career


1973-1976  Art teacher at Bellpark Primary School, Bellville1974-1978  Part-time teacher at Tygerberg Technical College, Bellville, lecturing child art and textile printing for adults

1979 - Part-time lecturer at University of Stellenbosch for students of primary education and occupational therapy

1981-1987 Senior lecturer of non-examination subjects (pottery, design and printing), Oranjemund Technical College

1987-1989 Art club as extra-curricular activity, Grabouw High School

1991 - Art teacher at Joan Cole Academy, Bellville (painting, history of art and ceramics for grade 9 to 12 pupils)

1992-1998  Full-time departmental post as art teacher at Kenridge Primary School, Bellville, responsible for art education for grade 4 to 7 pupils

Since October 1998, lecturing at Boland Teachers’ Training college and since 2001 at Cape Technikon’s Wellington Campus (visual art and dance)

2005 Appointed permanent lecturer

Currently, lecturer at Peninsula University’s Wellington Campus, training teachers in the learning area of arts and culture

2006  paid a study visit to the Wigan Art Centre, England; 

over the years attended various conferences, workshops and presented papers, both locally and abroad (e.g. 1999, ceramics, Amsterdam; 

2006, Edinburg, Scotland;  2008, comparative  education, Sofia, Bulgaria).

Interests: Cultural matters, community service, upliftment of farm workers e.g. in the Elgin district, hiking and nature conservation.

Membership

Dendrological Society, Durbanville, Cultural Society, Durbanville, Heritage Society and Member of and Chairman of Art.b Bellville, and as such member of SANAVA.
