NATIONAL VICE PRESIDENT

HESTER DE VOS

 Academic qualifications

Journalism Honours,  Univ Orange Free State, Rand Afrikaans University Career

Worked in corporate communications and journalism for 20 years until 2005, when her love of art overruled and she decided to become a full-time artist.

She lives in Cape Town with Table Mountain as a backdrop.

This provides the inspiration for the hallmark background of her cityscapes

Her passion is the versatility of oil paint, using both brush and palette knife techniques

She loves to create impasto landscapes and settlements in vibrant colours, a joyous portrayal of the vitality of her environment

Oils are for her about ever strengthening layers of paint to give the illusion of an image

In December 2006, she had her first solo exhibition with the theme ‘Source of reflection’ at the Rossouw Gallery in Cape Town

In 2008, the Art.B Gallery, Bellville hosted a joint exhibition of her work with that of her mother, Elizabeth de Vos, a watercolourist from Port Elizabeth, the theme having been ‘Destinations’

Hester’s impressionistic style oil paintings and her unique technique have led to commissioned work for clients, locally and abroad as far as Europe and Malaysia
