The Eastern Province Society of Arts and Crafts was established in 1918 to nurture art and craft in the Eastern Cape Region. Now called EPSAC Community Art Centre, we aim to bring all sections of the community together by making art and craft accessible to artists and interested individuals, as well as promoting public interest in the arts. We actively support artists by providing a venue for them to hold workshops and exhibitions. We hold a New Signatures Exhibition each year, with a prize of a free 2 week solo exhibition, in order to encourage new artists. We have a library of books on art and related topics. We have a quarterly Newsletter which informs recipients of art news, competitions, functions and upcoming exhibitions. As a branch of the SANAVA and members of the VANSA, EPSAC’s members are represented nationally on these bodies which are active in shaping the arts in South Africa.
